Project Life - Week 3

Hi everyone!

Happy Friday! I hope everyone's having a great Friday and have great plans for the weekend. Today I'm going to share with you week three of project life for 2014! I got to tell you I've never had so much motivation to do something craft related that I've actually stayed on top of. I mean it's only been seven weeks but so far I've stayed current. I print every week and work on my layouts usually in Sundays after Jude goes to bed!

So here is Week 3!

There was so much to squeeze in this week I was glad that I finally purchased the middle inserts! It's great for those weeks that you have extra pictures you definately want to include. Here are some of the things that happened during week 3. Jude played Peekaboo with Uncle Lester, ate lo-mien at PF Changs and loved it, got to see his aunt Bari and ms. Katie, got a hair cut for the second time, and you got to meet two new friends of mommy. We will call them Shooter & Fancy!
For this Project Life layout I used:
Becky Higgins Page Protector - Design E (left side)
Becky Higgins Page Protector - Design A (right side)
Becky Higgins Page Protector - Design I (middle)
American Crafts - Cardstock
Recollections - inserts

The important thing to remember about sketches is that you don't have to follow it exactly to a tee. Some people like to follow it exactly and thats OK too. I like to use it for inspiration. Your entry doesn't have to be a layout. You can use the sketch above to create an project you'd like.

Gloria from Gloria's Goofy Craft Spot has decided to join forces with me again and I am so excited!!!! Here is her Mother's Day Layout:

Project Life - Week 2

Hi Everyone!!!

It's time for week 2 of  Project Life! Week two was from January 5th - Jaunuary 11th. It's was a slow week so there weren't many pictures.

Here is my Week 2 Layout!
Here's what happened!  This week we got hit with Floridian "Winter" so it dropped down to 50 degrees. 50 may not seem very cold but for us Floridians it's cold! It's not easy for us to go from 90 degrees to 50 Brrrrr! This week I also noticed that Jude would mimic any face that I made in my forward facing camera. I played with vinyl. Jude made his own bed on the floor with cushions and realized Jude falls asleep almost every day during lunch at daycare. I hope you enjoyed my Layout. I will post week 3 next week Friday.

Happy Crafting!

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Hi everyone!!!

Today's craft is a little different than usual!  I usually post my project life layouts on Friday (It will post tomorrow Saturday) but since today is Valentine's day I wanted to show you the Candy Free Treats I made for Jude's Daycare Class. I really wanted to make something home made and I didn't want it to be candy. So I found this awesome recipe on Mommypotamus

Here is what I made:

Yep that is Homemade Playdough about the size of my head (this is 3 batches)

After it cooled I flattened it and cut it into 12 pieces, put them in airtight containers that wrapped them in a cellophane bag, added the recipe and a cookie cutter!

How cute are these???

I found this recipe for Homemade playdough on Mommypotamus this is a blog that I frequent (she is a natural momma). But I actually found her recipe thru Pinterest! I love Pinterest! Here is the recipe:

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tarter
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 cup of naturally colored water (see Mommypotamus for recipe (we used her beet option) OR 1 cup water and food coloring
Instructions:
  1. Mix flour, salt and cream of tartar in a medium-sized pot
  2. Add oil and colored water and stir until ingredients are well blended.
  3. Place pot on the stove over low/medium heat. Cook the dough – stirring often – until begins to pull away from the sides of the pot (about 3-5 minutes)
  4. Allow the dough to cool a little and then knead for a minute or so.
  5. Store in an airtight container
Please be sure to check out her site! She has some amazing stuff on there :)

Yep this is how I justified the purchase in my mind! The code is combo2014

I can't wait for it to arrive so I can show it to all of you. This planner will also serve as my Project Life Organizer!

Whale Thank You!

Hi Everyone!

It's Tuesday and today I wanted to share with you the thank you cards that I made for a friend who had an under the sea themed baby shower. This was a super simple last minute project. I only used the Cricut for the whale. The circle and the scallop were cut with a punch. The stamp set is Pink by Design Vintage Greetings! And I finished it off with some stickles :)

What do you think?

Project Life - Week 1

Hi everyone!

I'm back at it! I will be posting my Project Life layouts weekly on Friday's. I have completely fallen in Love with Project Life. It so great to keep up with Jude's milestones and it nice to see him growing up week to week. It's still hard to believe that more than a year and half has past since he was born.

I have to say that I love project life so much that I decided to join the Monthly Project Life Subscription over at Studio Calico.  I can't wait to receive my first package it comes!

Ok Enough Chatter!!!! Let's get too it!  Here is my Week 1 Layout:
Week one was a big week! Part of it was in 2013 so I decided to include it since it was also the first time my mom, step dad and sister visited our New Apartment. On the first day back to DayCare in 2014. Jude was bitten by a class mate. I keep being told that being the parent of the kid being bitten is better than being the parent of the biter. I'm still not convinced LOL! I went to my first monthly crop of 2014 and of course we celebrated the New Year! I think one of my favorite things about Project Life is that a lot of these pictures would have never made it on to a traditional scrapbook layout. They would just be sitting on my phone... DOING NOTHING! I hope you enjoyed my post today ;)

Step by Step... Ooooo baby!

Hi Everyone!

I hope you enjoyed my post yesterday! It was nice to be welcomed back :) today I decided to post a Step by Step tutorial of how I made the Sequin Card. If you want to join the Valentine's Day Wacky Wednesday Challenge you can CLICK HERE.

Here is the Step by Step Tutorial:

Step 1:
Cut your top layer. I used my gypsy to design it. I made two different ones.

Step 2:
Trim your cardstock to make an A2 sized card (4.25 x 5.5). If you are starting with an 8.5 x 11 piece of cardstock like I did you are basically cutting it in half. In my case I am cutting it the long way.

Step 3 - Score your cardstock at 5.5 inches

Step 4 - fold your card base in half

Step 5 - trace your hearts from your top layer onto your card base using a pencil.

Step 6 - lift top layer and start placing sequins using the Scotch Quick Dry.  You want to make sure that the sequins overlap the pencil mark. The glue will dry clear.

Step 7 - stamp your sentiment on the top layer

Step 8 - add foam tape around the edge on the back of your top layer.

Step 9 - peel off backing on foam tape and add to the base of the card.

Here is the finished product!

Supplies:
Pink By Design - Capture Life Stamp Set
Pencil
Paper Trimmer
Graphically Speaking - Cricut Cartridge
Calligraphy Collection - Cricut Cartridge
Paper Trey Ink - Poppy Cardstock
Paper Trey Ink - White Cardstock
Art Minds - Red Sequins
Scotch - Quick Drying Tacky Glue
