Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Hi everyone!!!

Today's craft is a little different than usual!  I usually post my project life layouts on Friday (It will post tomorrow Saturday) but since today is Valentine's day I wanted to show you the Candy Free Treats I made for Jude's Daycare Class. I really wanted to make something home made and I didn't want it to be candy. So I found this awesome recipe on Mommypotamus

Here is what I made:

Yep that is Homemade Playdough about the size of my head (this is 3 batches)

After it cooled I flattened it and cut it into 12 pieces, put them in airtight containers that wrapped them in a cellophane bag, added the recipe and a cookie cutter!

How cute are these???

I found this recipe for Homemade playdough on Mommypotamus this is a blog that I frequent (she is a natural momma). But I actually found her recipe thru Pinterest! I love Pinterest! Here is the recipe:

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tarter
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 cup of naturally colored water (see Mommypotamus for recipe (we used her beet option) OR 1 cup water and food coloring
Instructions:
  1. Mix flour, salt and cream of tartar in a medium-sized pot
  2. Add oil and colored water and stir until ingredients are well blended.
  3. Place pot on the stove over low/medium heat. Cook the dough – stirring often – until begins to pull away from the sides of the pot (about 3-5 minutes)
  4. Allow the dough to cool a little and then knead for a minute or so.
  5. Store in an airtight container
Please be sure to check out her site! She has some amazing stuff on there :)

Happy Crafting!

  2. Love that recipe I've used it to make play dough for my classroom for more than 25 years. In an airtight container it lasts a long time! Great gift idea!
